Tea and Tea Etiquette

Teapot Materials

Ceramic - retains heat well, but absorbs oil that effects tea flavor (should not be used to serve any beverage but tea). If you plan to throw frequent tea parties, consider purchasing a separate teapot for each type of tea (black, oolong, and green).

Glass, Porcelain, Cast-Iron - won't absorb flavor. Good for delicate tea (oolong or green).

Teapot Care

Wash teapots seperately and store them with the lid off. Put a sugar cube in an infrequently used teapot to absorb musty odors.
