Coffee Brew Time
The brew time for each grind is different. In general, the finer the grind, the more surface area is exposed to water and the faster the essential oils are extracted. Extrafine grind brews in approximately 1 minute in an ibrik: Fine grind brews in about 30 to 40 seconds in an espresso machine, and around 2 to 4 minutes steeped in a pan. Medium grind brews in approximately 4 to 6 minutes in a drip coffee maker. Coarse grind, a grind that exposes less surface area to water, takes longer for extraction of essential oils and brews in about 6 to 8 minutes in a plunger pot or a percolator.
