The cob is the woody ear of the corn stalk, a messy but delectable finger food served only at informal meals.
Table manners for eating corn on the cob. The cob is held by the ends with the fingers.
Table manners for eating large corn on the cob. Large cobs are easier to eat when cut in half, and are buttered two rows at a time to control drips (but perhaps ruins the fun).
