Celery is served raw or cooked.

Table manners for eating raw celery. Raw celery is generally served as a crudite taken with the fingers, placed on a bread-and-butter plate, and eaten with the fingers. When a bread-and-butter plate is not provided, raw celery is placed on the dinner plate. Do not sprinkle salt over celery; instead, place the seasoning on the side of the plate and dip the stalk into it.
