Etiquette Defined: The standard of courteous conduct in society and among individuals from a group or profession.

Etiquette Fact: Etiquette is a French word meaning “label” or “ticket”. The word was later altered in “etiqueta” in Spain (in the sixteenth century) and used to allude to documented conventions and conduct mandated for anyone that was present in court. “Etiqueta” grew to be used ceremonies held in court and the written requirements for the ceremonies. In France, "étiquette" began to be used to describe appropriate conduct. Finally, by the eighteenth century, those who spoke English embraced the word itself, that the French meaning.
